JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding was discussed during the Stutsman County Commission and Park Board meeting Tuesday.

Road Superintendent Jim Wentland asked the commission if he was okay to move forward with refacing the main shop using ARPA funds.

$33,160 was tentatively approved for one project and another $61,200 project. This would be fore both the main shop and blade shop for Stutsman County.

The commission unanimously approved to proceed with the projects.

Karl Bergh, Park Superintendent, brought forth his request for ARPA funding to purchase a snow blower for their skid steer.

Bergh says the purchase didn’t make it into the 2023 budget. He added discussion on the purchase “went to the wayside” and didn’t get included in budget discussion.

He says they’ll be sharing the skid steer to maximize its usage.

Bergh recommended an $8,500 purchase, which would be matched and ready to be used. The other, higher bids would be for bigger machines, but a harness to match the skid steer was not included.

The park board unanimously approved to purchase the snowblower first using department budgets before considering use of ARPA funds.
