JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Little ghouls and goblins will be out in full force Monday, Oct. 31 for Halloween.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger took some time to encourage residents to be on alert and aware for pedestrian safety.

Edinger added auto accidents and injuries have been minimal for Halloween in the past. He says the high volume of pedestrians makes it difficult for traffic enforcement.

He says motorist increasing their own awareness and safety can assist the department and ensure everyone has a safe evening.

Fire Chief Jim Reuther added there are some safety precautions homeowners and trick-or-treaters can do when it comes to fire.

Reuther says consider using a safer light source for your jack-o-lanterns and making sure costumes are non-flammable. You’re also encouraged to ensure your smoke alarm is working correctly.
