PINGREE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals took on the Thunder of Medina/Pingree/Buchanan in Region 3 Varsity Volleyball action Monday night in the last regular season match of the year for both teams, Carrington won the first two sets and then the Thunder came storming back and won the next three for the victory (21-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-13). MPB improves to 21-10 overall, Carrington drops to 27-7 overall.

The match was tight throughout the five sets, the Thunder controlled most of set three though. In sets two, four and five, there were a combined 23 ties. MPB was helped by double digit kills for Allison Thomas and Maddie Gefroh and Brynn Sorenson added eight. Madison Johnson and Haley Wolsky had double digit kills for Carrington. MPB avenged a loss to the Cardinals in the Carrington Volleyball Tournament championship match on October 8th, Carrington won 2-0.

Next up for Carrington will be the District 5 tournament at Barnes County North High School Gym in Leal on Thursday. Carrington is the three seed and will take on the number six seed Griggs/Midkota Titans in the last match Thursday night at approximately 7pm.
