CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The annual Barnes County Boys Basketball Tournament in Valley City begins Tuesday with first round games at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.

Three-time defending champion Maple Valley is the top seed for the tournament, which runs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. All 12 games of the tournament will be broadcast on Q101.1, starting at about 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maple Valley (2-1) will take on No. 8 Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page (0-2) in the opening round at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. LaMoure-Litchville-Marion (3-0) is seeded No. 4 and will face No. 5 Enderlin (1-2) in the opening round at 4:30 p.m.

Milnor (1-2) received the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will play No. 7 Barnes County North (1-1) in a battle of the Bison at 6 p.m. The final game of the opening round features No. 3 seed Valley City (0-1) against No. 6 Griggs County Central (2-0) at about 7:30 p.m.

Maple Valley defeated Valley City 48-43 in the 2011 championship game.
