HARVEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An Anamoose, North Dakota man was seriously injured in a semi truck and train incident that occurred near Harvey Wednesday, Oct. 12.
65 year-old Rodney Lund was traveling westbound on 23rd St. N approaching a railroad intersection marked with stop signs just after 11 AM. The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports the Volvo semi truck attempted to cross the railroad tracks when a Canadian Pacific train struck the semi trailer on its driver side causing it to rotate counterclockwise.
The truck tractor then struck the left side of the train with its driver’s side. The semi truck came to rest on the west side of the tracks facing east.
Lund was life-flighted by Sanford Air to Sanford in Bismarck. His injuries are serious, but not life threatening according to officials.
The NDHP was assisted on the scene by Harvey Ambulance, Harvey Fire, Wells County Sheriff’s Office, and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
