JAMESTOWN, N.D. (National Buffalo Museum) – The National Buffalo Museum will host its 3rd annual Bid For Bison Online Auction Fundraiser.
This two-week event runs November 5-19, 2022, and kicks off with an exclusive VIP cocktail reception on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Jamestown Arts Center. There are 100 tickets available for the VIP reception. The museum’s fundraising auction has traditionally been held in the summer, but has been moved to November in honor of National Bison Day, which falls annually on the first Saturday of the month.
The VIP reception will celebrate National Bison Day and offers guests exclusive opportunities for participating in the online auction before it opens to the public at midnight.
One of the evening’s high points will be delicious bison cuisine, catered by Chef Anthony Bauer of United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. Inspired by his indigenous culture and passion for food, Bauer developed a special menu of bison hors d’oeuvres for this event. Bauer was able to schedule this event before his appearance at Twin Cities EATSS in Minneapolis, where he will appear alongside other acclaimed indigenous chefs who will prepare their uniquely modern takes on indigenous dishes at a fundraiser for the American Indian College Fund. The museum would like to thank North American Bison, LLC, in New Rockford, ND, for graciously donating the bison meat for this event.
An exhibit of original artwork by Canadian author and artist Wes Olson also opens at the reception. VIP guests will be the first to see these works recently acquired by the museum. They were initially printed in Olson’s book Portraits of the American Bison and illustrate the development and growth of male and female bison from birth to old age. The Arts Center will host the exhibit throughout the month of November. After November, the exhibit will be installed in the National Buffalo Museum’s galleries.
