The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team posted its second straight shutout, defeating Providence College of Manitoba 5-0 Thursday afternoon at the Jimmie Turf Field.

Five different players had goals for Jamestown, now 4-8-1 overall this season.

Joel Hyland (SO/Manchester, England) scored 15 seconds from halftime to give the Jimmies a 1-0 lead. It was only the second shot on goal for UJ in the opening forty-five minutes, but proved effective.

Two goals in short order helped break the game open. Jona Toussaint (SO/Berlin, Germany) made it 2-0 on a pass from Diego Righi (FR/Dusseldorf, Germany) in the 68th minute, then Righi struck in the 69th for his third goal in the past two matches.

In the 72nd minute, Jon Torres (FR/Houston, Texas) hit the crossbar on a highlight-reel quality bicycle kick, but he would make good on his next scoring attempt, taking a pass from Frankie Parkinson (SO/Bournemouth, England) to push the lead to 4-0 in the 74th minute.

Kael Calder (FR/Vernal, Utah) bagged the final Jimmie goal in the 77th minute to round out the scoring.

Myles Ragar (FR/Billings, Mont.) made two saves in recording his first career clean sheet. Shots were 19-5 in favor of Jamestown.

Next up for the Jimmies is a Saturday match at Concordia (Neb.) University beginning at 8 p.m.
