VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In a game that already has playoff seeding and media poll implications, a travelling trophy adds yet another dimension.

Valley City and Jamestown renew their football rivalry Friday at Hanna Field in Valley City, with the Hi-Liners holding the top position in the QRF rankings and media poll, and Jamestown being second in both of those rankings.

They will battle for year-long pride with the Farmers Union Insurance “Iron Helmet Trophy” as well.  The travelling trophy was put in place for the Jamestown-Valley City game each year in 2017.

Along with the helmet that adorns the top of the trophy, the award has a placard denoting both teams and the sponsor, along with mile markers depicting the two cities’ locations along Interstate 94, 260 for Jamestown, 290 for Valley City.

The trophy is awarded to the winner of the game, and will be held by the winner until the next season.

Friday night may not be the lone affair between the two teams this season.  Both teams are likely to be playoff teams this season.
