CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown is ranked No. 5 in the state and Valley City No. 7 in the first Class A Wrestling Poll released this week.

West Fargo is the top team in the state, and Bismarck is the top team in the West Region, according to the coaches’ poll. Jamestown is No. 4 in the West, and Valley City is rated No. 3 in the East.

Valley City and Jamestown both have a handful of wrestlers ranked in the Top 6 of their respective weight classes.

Paxton Mewes and Zane Braun of Jamestown are both rated No. 1 at 106 pounds and 152 pounds, respectively. For Valley City, Reed Beckman is rated the top wrestler in the state at 145 pounds.

Also for Valley City, Mark Miller is No. 6 at 138 pounds; Shane Undem is No. 5 at 160; Zac Doty is No. 2 at 170; and Steven Horner is No. 2 at 285 pounds.

For Jamestown, Jaden Horstad is No .3 at 126 pounds; Ryan Hillerud is No. 6 at 145; Ethan Gumke is No. 3 at 170; and Mark Reynolds is No. 6 at 285 pounds.

Both Valley City and Jamestown are in action Saturday during the annual Knights of Columbus Tournament in Jamestown.
