the first time in its history, North Dakota has ranked as the best run state in the nation, according to a study from 24/7 Wall Street.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says topping the list is no small deal.

Thanks largely the oil and gas boom, North Dakota is one of only two states that have not reported a budget shortfall since 2009. The state also boasts the nation’s best unemployment rate.

Rounding out the top five are Wyoming at No. 2, Nebraska at No. 3, Utah at No. 4 and Iowa coming in at No. 5.
