JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – It was all Jamestown from start to finish on Saturday afternoon at Hansen Stadium as the Jimmies cruised to a 41-17 victory over Doane on Homecoming.

Jamestown’s offense was humming from the start as the Jimmies scored 21 points on the first three drives of the game. Cade Torgerson linked up with Javon Bowie-Monteiro on the first two touchdowns of the day with Bowie-Monteiro snagging 13 and 62-yard receptions. On the third drive of the game, Torgerson connected with Dawson Schmidt to put Jamestown ahead 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second, Aanon Peterson pushed the Jimmies ahead 24-0 with a 29-yard field goal, his fourth made field goal of the season. With under 1:00 to go until the halftime break, Torgerson led Jamestown on a six play, 96-yard drive which resulted in Bowie-Monteiro’s third touchdown of the half. UJ led 31-0 going into halftime and never allowed Doane to get in the game as the Tigers were held to under 70 yards in the first half.

Jamestown’s lone touchdown in the final 30 minutes of play came on defense when Parker Hager picked off Michael Pulliam and took the ball 34 yards to the house to make it 41-0 Jimmies early in the fourth quarter. The UJ defense had a shutout going into the final 10 minutes of the game and forced four turnovers on defense, all interceptions. Jed Rantz had two INTs for the Jimmies.

Torgerson finished 18-38 through the air for 284 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Bowie-Monterio was the leading receiver with five catches for 142 yards and three touchdowns. UJ’s rushing attack had 214 net yards on the ground, led by freshman Zach Hammett who carried the ball 14 times for 81 yards. Carlos Julian ran for 57 yards on six carries. Jamestown finished with 498 total yards of offense.

The Jimmies move to 3-3 on the year and 2-3 in the GPAC with a road matchup against Concordia (NE) on the schedule for next Saturday. Doane is now 2-2 on the season and in the conference standings.
