JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police Department (JPD) officers will be sporting unique, pink patches during the month of October to show support and raise money for breast cancer care locally.

Spearheaded by Officer Kayla Volin, the JPD has partnered with the James-Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4 to help raise funds and awareness of breast cancer.

“All our patrol officers will be wearing pink-colored department patches and will be displaying pink ribbons on all our squad cars,” the department stated. “In turn, we will also be selling these breast cancer awareness department patches to anyone wishing to help donate to a wonderful cause.”

Officer Volin says she wanted to do something for the department that connects them with the community, but also gives back while doing so.

Patches will be sold for $10 with the proceeds being donated to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation (Women’s Health Fund—breast cancer).

They can be purchased at the Jamestown Police Department main office window at 205 6 St SE during regular business hours.

Officer Volin says it wasn’t too hard to get the other officers on board with the idea.
