Wayne Fairfield, Jr., 72, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012.
Darrel “Darry” was born June 27, 1940, the son of Darrel, Sr. “Jake” and Lorraine (Kennison) Fairfield at Jamestown Hospital.
He was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church. He grew up in Eldridge, ND and completed his elementary education at Eldridge School. Darry graduated from Jamestown High School in 1958, as an honor student. He attended NDSU before becoming a mason’s apprentice at Moline Construction. Darry then partnered with Robert Kennison in a masonry business and became a master mason. He was known for his artistry and built many beautiful fireplaces that still grace some of Jamestown’s finest homes. Darry also farmed with his uncle Leonard Fairfield in Eldridge.
Darry loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed old movies and music from the 50’s. He had an encyclopedic memory of music, movies, singers, and actors. He loved to play the piano. Darry had a wonderful sense of humor and always had endless jokes to tell.
He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Fairfield, Eldridge; three sons, Charles, Coeur D’Alene, ID, Wade, Bloomington, MN, John, Eldridge; one daughter, Jacqueline (Lowell) Baker, Jamestown; two sisters, Marilyn Entzminger, Gackle, ND and Patricia Fairfield, Jamestown; one grandson, Jacob Baker; and special friend, Rita Pederson, Jamestown.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: Eldridge Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
