Watford City, ND (NEWSDAKOTA.com) – The Hi-Liners made the long road trip up to Watford City and were able to take down the Wolves by a score of 45-7.
The Hi-Liners came out of the gate firing. On the second play of the game Gavin Gerhardt made a 63 yard touchdown run to get the Hi-Liners up early. They would score on their second drive of the game, after a Gavin Gerhardt interception, with a 6 yard Ethan Miller touchdown run. The first quarter would end with a Hi-Liner 14-0 lead.
The Watford City Wolves were not to be counted out as they would score off a Tyler Jones 32 yard touchdown reception cut the lead in half. However the Hi-Liners would strike back with Gerhardt’s second touchdown run on a 6 yard run. The half would end with Valley City up 21-7.
The second half would start much the same way after an Ethan Miller interception turned the ball over to the Hi-Liners. This would be followed by a 40 yard Miller touchdown run. The rest of the 3rd quarter would see dueling turn overs with a Wolves fumble recovery being followed by a Zach Sykora interception. After the Sykora interception Bryson Heck would find Aiden Jacobson in the endzone for a 21 yard touchdown pass. Miller would cap off the 3rd quarter scoring with a 25 yard touchdown run on their next drive. The Hi-Liners would be up 42-7 after three quarters of play.
Bryson Heck would be the only person to score in the 4th quarter with a 20 yard field goal.
The final score would be Hi-Liners 45 and the Wolves 7.
The Hi-Liners defense would allow the Wolves to get only a single first down the entire second half.
Ethan Miller would be named the Ivy Real Estate Group Player of the Game.
They come back home to take on the Devils Lake Firebirds next Friday. It will be broadcasted on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KOVC with pregame starting at 6:45.
