THOMPSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals won the first set, but the Tommies came back and won the next three and get the victory 3-1 (14-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-8) Thursday night in the non-region volleyball contest. Thompson is now 2-0, Carrington is now 1-1.

After a couple of ties early on and about half way through the first set, Carrington pulled away and picked up the victory in set number one. In set two, the Cardinals led pretty much the entire way, but then the Tommies came back and tied the set at 18 and pulled away for the victory. Set three had four ties early on but Thompson controlled the set for the most part and also controlled all of the fourth set. Senior Summer Hegg led the way unofficially with 16 kills, Senior Clara Stevens added 10 and Junior Brenna Martin nine. For Carrington, Senior Haley Wolsky had seven kills.

Next up for Carrington will be on Thursday, September 8th in Edgeley to take on fellow District 5 team Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier. KDAK 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the match starting about 7pm.
