JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee took steps Tuesday to guarantee the 2024 purchase price for a Fire Department Rescue Truck.

The agreement would guarantee the price of $585,264 for the truck through Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing with the chassis cost of $324,094 due in 2023 upon delivery to the plant.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says there could be discounts if the amount is paid upon chassis delivery.

Fire Chief Jim Reuther says they have about a year to wait for the chassis.

Chief Reuther says the complete build would be available by the end of 2024. He added the department can manage with their current equipment while they wait for the build.

The entire unit will then be assembled in South Dakota.

The committee unanimously agreed to recommend the purchase to the city council for final approval. Councilmember David Schloegel was not present.
