Dave Anderson

OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dave Anderson, a 1974 graduate of Oakes High School, will be inducted into the Oakes Public School Hall of Fame on Monday, September 12 at 7:00 pm.

The induction will be held in the South Gym in conjunction with the coronation of the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen.

Brigadier General Dave Anderson (USA Retired), graduated from Oakes High School in 1974, after high school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science and Math from North Dakota State University and commissioned as an Army Engineer Officer in 1980.

During his career Dave has had many military assignments including serving as the Commander of the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion during its deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2003 to April 2004. He graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania in 2007. In 2011 Dave was inducted into the NDSU Military Science Hall of Valor.

Dave retired from the North Dakota National Guard after 34 years of service having served in multiple assignments of increasing responsibilities culminating in his appointment as the Army Commander, North Dakota National Guard. In 2019 Dave was appointed by Governor Doug Burgum as one of the first five members of the North Dakota Ethics Commission where he continues his service to the state of North Dakota.

A reception will be held in Dave’s honor in the OPS Concessions Area prior to the ceremony beginning at 5:30. Anyone wishing to reminisce with Dave and celebrate his service to the community are encouraged to attend.
