VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – According to a news release issued by the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office a Barnes County man was sentenced to 8 years with 4 years suspended to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Center for Gross Sexual Imposition (GSI.) This sentence will run concurrent with a similar charge in Stutsman County where he was sentenced to serve 12 years.
Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin said Everett D. Flynn changed his not guilty plea to guilty on June 8th and was sentenced on August, 9th for the crime of Gross Sexual Imposition and having sexual contact with a victim under the age of 15.
Sheriff McClaflin said a social worker with the Buffalo Bridges Human Service Zone contacted the Sheriff’s Office on August, 31st of 2021 and reported a child had been possibly abused at the Everett D. Flynn residence located in the 5300 block of 106th Avenue SE in rural Barnes County near Litchville, N.D.
After a lengthy investigation conducted by the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office and the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff McClaflin said Deputies learned from Everett D. Flynn’s own admission that he was having sexual contact with a minor child. This minor child was not living in the residence with Flynn. After Flynn’s admissions, Deputies took Flynn into custody where he was placed in the Barnes County Correctional Center.
