ROLETTE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The 2022 High School Football season kicked off on Friday night and in Class 11B Region 2 action it was the Braves of Bottineau defeating the Carrington Cardinals 26-14. The Braves are 1-0 in the region and overall, Carrington drops to 0-1 in the region and overall.
Bottineau scored the first touchdown of the game with about three minutes left in the first quarter, Senior QB Ryder Pollman connected with Junior Carson Haerer for a 43-yard catch and run touchdown, the 2-point was good making the score 8-0. The Cardinals would score the next touchdown with about seven minutes left in the second quarter, the extra point was no good making it 8-6. Then the Braves would score three in a row before the Cardinals would score another. Sophomore Josh Bickett would come in at QB in the fourth quarter, run for a 55-yard TD, the 2-point was good cutting the gap to 26-14. The Cardinals would get the ball back on an on-side kick, but a holding penalty and an interception would put the game away for the Braves. Pollman ended the game throwing four touchdowns and two interceptions for the Braves.
