N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Facing an uphill battle in its season opener versus defending state runner-up Grafton-Park River, the Jamestown High Blue Jays boys hockey team surrendered two goals in the first 5 1/2 minutes and never rebounded, falling 7-0 to the Spoilers at Wilson Arena Tuesday night.

Just 38 seconds into the contest, Grafton-PR’s junior forward Jade Miller netted his first of two goals on the evening, and the Spoilers never looked back, taking a 4-0 lead into the first intermission and a 6-0 lead going into the third period.

The bright spot of the night for the Blue Jays came from senior goaltender Tygh Yatskis, who saved 20 of 21 shots in about 26 minutes of ice time after replacing starting netminder Ben Walz.

The Blue Jays will be away from home for their next three contests, including a trip Saturday to Hazen/Beulah for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
