(NewsDakota.com)- The Minnesota-Morris Cougars were the opponents at the Jamestown Civic Center last night for the Jimmies and left with a pair of losses. The women of JC outscored the Cougars 39-10 in the second half to win 73-34. The men’s game was more closely contested with the Jimmies holding on to win 67-64.
Towards the end of the first half of the women’s game you could tell momentum was starting to swing towards the Jimmies, but you would never have guessed that JC would only allow one field goal in the second half. Emily Meir lead all scorers with 19 and her three point basket midway through the second half was the Cougars only field goal.
The Jimmies dominated from start to finish in the second session on their way to the 39-point win. Hannah Steele lead the way with 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Carly Jensen, the teams leading scoring, was an efficient four-of-four from the field for 11 points.
Women are now 6-1 and will hit the road to Dickinson to take on the Blue Hawks and Rocky Mountain College.
Despite a brace holding his separated right shoulder in place, Mark Hoge was all over the place for the Jimmies with a career-high 30 points. Jimmies got out to a 12-point lead with 6:30 left, but had to hold on for dear life at the end as they only would score two more points.
Morris had an opportunity to tie the game at the buzzer but were unable to get off a quality shot.
Its now three wins in a row for Coach Justin Wieck and the Jimmies they are 5-3. They hit the road to play No. 15 (NAIA DI) Montana State Northern.
