JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Auditor Jessica Alonge made a request to cut down on early voting hours for the upcoming general election in November.

Alonge informed the commission that Stutsman County is the only county in the state to offer early voting for two weeks prior to election day.

Alonge says they would still host early voting Monday through Friday at the courthouse from 8 AM to 5 PM the week before.

She added the numbers for early voting were low in Stutsman County.

Residents would still have mail-in and absentee ballot options to give ample time for voting. The commission unanimously approved. Commissioner Ramone Gumke was not present.

Alonge also provided an update on the Medina polling location.

Freedom Resource Center put together measurements in order to put in a temporary ramp to be ADA compliant. No pricing has been established yet, but Alonge says the ramp will be necessary in order for the polling site to be open.

Commissioner Mark Klose had reservations about paying to upgrade a polling site.

Klose asked if Medina officials could come to the commission to provide some more information. A further discussion will occur at the September meeting.
