JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Emily Lasnier of Inside Weddings states summer is the second top season to get engaged.
The warm weather, family gatherings, and vacation trips provide opportunities for a unique engagement. One in three engagements takes place while traveling, and North Dakota does not lack great romantic settings to proffer marriage this summer. Here are five lovely settings for an extraordinary proposal.
Take A Road Trip
North Dakota Tourism is encouraging locals and visitors to take one of three “legendary road trips” on a budget. One route is from Bismarck to Medora. Visit and explore the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, and the Enchanted Highway along the way. Don’t miss the Medora Musical, a fun variety show held outdoors at night. The other two routes are Grand Forks to Bottineau and Devils Lake to Garrison. The picturesque landscapes, roadside attractions, and summer events give many options for a one-of-a-kind proposal.
Stay At The Dakotah Rose Bed And Breakfast
This 1906 Victorian-style B&B in Minot is a popular romantic getaway. The Dakotah Rose has the sophistication of bygone times that will make for an incredible proposal that will fulfill anyone’s dreams. This home makes planning easy. They have a variety of romance packages with traditional flowers, chocolates, and music to create that special moment. The grounds are spectacular, even in winter. It can be just the spot to ask for someone’s hand.
Ride An Old-Time Wagon
Blonde Belgian Horses will pull a wagon along a trail from Medora to Chateau de Mores State Historic Site. Go for a ride on August 6, 7, 13, or 14, 2022. Proposing while going through the bottomlands will make it unforgettable. Cap off the ride by visiting the Interpretive Center and an 1883 home. A trip to the past is a great kickoff to the future.
Hike At Night
Fort Stevenson State Park will host a “Sensory Hike” on August 20, 2022. It’s an uncommon hike where participants will use their senses as they learn about nocturnal animals and look at the world from a different perspective. The unique view of the park’s vistas in the evening will make a wonderful backdrop for asking the big question. Lake Sakakawea is another romantic spot in the park. Fort Stevenson has cabins and campsites for visitors who would like to sleep over.
Cruise A River And Paint
North Dakota Tourism announced another Wine and Paint Cruise on the Lewis and Clark Riverboat on August 25, 2022. This could be a great day to propose. An art instructor will be on board as passengers create their artwork while sipping wine. Tickets include the ride, art materials, and a drink. For a more private event, charters are available.
There are many other North Dakota scenes where couples can get engaged. Consider what’s meaningful to both parties and how public or private they want the special day to be.
