GARRISON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After losing their first game of the tournament, Lamoure Post 19 had to win six games in a row to win the state championship, and they did just that. Post 19 defeated Cando Post 79 in five innings in the second championship game, 10-0 on Sunday, winning by 10-run rule. Lamoure lost to Garrison 1-0 on the opening day of the tourney, then they went on to beat Carrington, Hazen, MayPort, Langdon and Cando twice. Post 19 played all the teams in the double elimination tourney except Renville County. Lamoure wins their third consecutive State B championship and they finish their season at 27-6 overall, Cando finishes runner-up and 18-5 overall.
Lamoure scored the first four runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back. Garret Hebl gets the victory, he had a no-hitter through four innings. At the plate, Hebl was 2-for-3, with a single and a three-run home run, his first of the year. Zach Jorde took the loss, working two and a third, Parker Simon worked two innings and Dane Hagler a third of an inning.
Landon Piehl of Lamoure was named tourney MVP.
