N.D. (NewsDakota.com, KFGO News) – The woman killed in a van/semi crash in Wells County Friday afternoon has been identified by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Kathy Whitewoll, 52, of Hurdsfield, had stopped to get her mail and was making a u-turn onto a gravel road leading to her residence when she was struck by a semi trying to pass in the left lane of Highway 3.

Whitewoll was not wearing her seat belt and died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Patrol.
