JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Freedom Resource Center is a disability rights organization, whose mission is to provide services that increase independence for people with disabilities.

Individuals of all ages have relied on the organization across North Dakota.

Ashley Gabehart is an independent living advocate based in Jamestown.

Katelyn Vilmo is the peer mentor specialist based in Fargo. She says they have numerous services they provide across the state.

Vilmo says advocacy is their primary mission.

While a majority of Freedom Resource Center’s advocates are older, Gabehart says they’re looking to increase support and advocacy with youth in the state.

Two area young adult gatherings have been planned in Valley City and Jamestown.

The Valley City gathering is set for July 26 from 1 to 3 pm at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library. The Jamestown gathering will be held at the NDSU Extension Office from 1 to 3 PM on August 3.

Ages 18 to 24 are encouraged to attend.
