Who owns the most farmland in the U.S. ? Microsoft founder, Bill Gates has become the largest private farmland owner in the country, earning the sarcastic moniker “Farmer Bill” from Gates’ critic Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
On Twitter, South Dakota Republican congressman Dusty Johnson is pushing for Gates to appear before congress to explain why he is buying up so much farmland.
Some are suggesting he is seizing control of some of our food supply as supply shortages threaten American stability.
North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley recently investigated Gates’ purchase of farmland from Campbell Farms of Grafton. The farmland under scrutiny is in Walsh and Pembina counties, but Wrigley allowed the purchase since the land will be leased to area landowners.
