JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day two of the 2022 District 4 American Legion Baseball tournament was held at Jack Brown Stadium on Tuesday, here are the results of the four games played:
No. 1 Kidder County 2 No. 4 New Rockford 0
Blake Braun pitched six shutout innings and Jayden Rath came in for the save to help the Wolves of Kidder County defeat New Rockford Post 30 in the first game of the day. KC scored one run in the bottom of the first and added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Braun had two hits at the plate as well and knocked in one. Rath scored both runs for KC. Caden Price had two hits for NR, Nick Berglund took the loss, working six innings, 115 pitches, one earned run, seven strikeouts.
No. 3 Carrington 2 No. 2 Linton/Ashley/Wishek 1
Carrington Post 25 scored two runs in the top of the first and that’s all they would need as they hold on for the one run victory. LAW got their first and only hit and only run in the bottom of the fifth inning from Colin Goettle, an RBI single. Hudson Schmitz picked up the complete game victory, Joe Fode the loss.
N0. 6 Jamestown Hawks 9 N0. 4 New Rockford-Sheyenne 3
The Jamestown Hawks gave up 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the first but battled back to defeat the Black Sox 9-3 and ended New Rockford-Sheyenne’s season. The Hawks scored 2 runs early on a Vaughn Romsdal (2-4, 4 RBI, 2-2B) double that scored Kaden Hakanson(1-3, 2 runs, RBI) and Brody Wolf (1-2, 2 runs, RBI)who reached on back to back walks in the first inning. Wolf was also the starting pitcher and threw a complete game allowing the 3 unearned runs and scattered 5 hits. The Hawks added 4 runs in the second inning to take the lead for good, aided by 5 base on balls, an error, and 1 wild pitch. The Black Sox pitchers walked 11 batters in the game. The Hawks added single runs in the 4th, 5th, and 7th innings to finish out the scoring. Defensively the Hawks committed 6 errors but the Black Sox did not take advantage with the exception of the first inning. New Rockford’s season ends with a 9-9 overall record and the Hawks improved to 10-22-1 overall.
N0. 2 Linton-Ashley-Wishek 6 N0. 5 Nelson County 0
The Rattlers from L-A-W scored three runs in both the second and third innings to defeat the Owls of Nelson County 6-0. Connor Kosiak pitched a complete game shutout and held the Owls to just 2 hits. Kosiak struck out 5 batters and allowed 2 walks and also went 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Rykan Salwei and Joe Fode both collected a pair of hits for the victorious Rattlers. Jace Nitschke went 1-2 with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Nelson County finished it’s season with a 4-12-1 overall record and L-A-W improved to 17-8.
