OAKES, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jordyn Bittner tossed a one-hitter in the championship game of the District 6 Babe Ruth baseball tournament to help lead Lisbon to a 16-0 victory over LaMoure on Sunday afternoon.
GAME ONE: LAMOURE 8, Lisbon 4
Coming out of the loser’s bracket, the A’s needed two wins over Lisbon on the day to advance to Beulah. LaMoure handed Lisbon its first loss of the tournament in game one as the A’s struck right off the bat with two runs in the first inning. LaMoure would hold the lead for the entirety of the game, picking up eight hits and capitalizing on four Lisbon errors. Owen Lesko had two doubles and picked up four RBIs and the first game at the plate, and Gunner Thielges got the win while also going 3-for-5 with two doubles. LaMoure committed just one error defensively in game one. Lisbon had a total of eight hits and another solid performance by Lincoln Adair.
GAME TWO: LISBON 16, LaMoure 0 (4 innings)
Lisbon wasted no time in game two by scoring three times on two hits in the first with Colton Johnson driving in two runs. LaMoure wasn’t able to slow down a red-hot Lisbon offense that scored 13 more runs in the next three innings to grab the District 6 Championship. Bittner shut down what had been a potent LaMoure offense throughout the tournament. The win against LaMoure snapped a streak of six straight District 6 titles by the A’s.
