CHICAGO, IL. (NewsDakota.com) – For the second year in a row, Jamestown High School’s Annie Nabwe was named the Gatorade North Dakota Track & Field Player of the Year for her accomplishments in 2022.

Nabwe set the state record in the Class A Championships for shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 10 inches, which was top five nationally among all prep competitors. The soon-to-be Minnesota Golden Gopher swept the throwing events at the Class A Championships and took third place in the 100-meter dash. Jamestown as a team finished third at the state meet behind Fargo Davies and Bismarck Century.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the state winners in each sport.
