BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association announced its 2022 College Award winners on Thursday and the University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team took home the College Female Team of the Year Award. The University of Jamestown had three other finalists for awards this season.
The UJ women’s volleyball team was named the College Female Team of the Year for the second consecutive season after going 35-1 and reaching the NAIA National Championship Semifinals for the second straight year. The Jimmies went unbeaten during the GPAC regular and postseason. Jon Hegerle was named as a finalist for the College Team Female Coach of the Year. Adam Jacobson won the award for NDSCS basketball.
UJ’s men’s volleyball team was also named a finalist for the College Male Team award after going 20-6 and winning the GPAC in 2022. Bismarck State baseball edged out both Jamestown and NDSU football for first place.
Finally, Jamestown’s Mason Walters was tabbed as a finalist for the College Male Athlete of the Year. U-Mary wide receiver Danny Kittner was the winner and Cordell Volson of NDSU football took second. Full results for all college awards are below.
