MANDAN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s Post 14 Eagles went on the road Tuesday night and grinded out a pair of victories over Mandan in “AA” Legion baseball.

GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 2, MANDAN 1 (8 innings)

A passed ball and fielding error in the top of the eighth inning allowed the Eagles to take the lead in extras before Gage Orr closed the door on a game one victory for Jamestown. Post 14 scored right off the jump in the first game after Payton Hochhalter drove in Connor Hoyt in the top of the first inning. Jamestown led 1-0 until Mandan scored the bottom of the sixth to even the game at 1-1. In the eighth, Hoyt put down a bunt which forced a fielding error, allowing Michael Mahoney to score. Mason Lunzman went seven innings on the hill, striking out nine and allowing just three hits. Orr picked up the win, striking out two batters in the eighth.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 4, MANDAN 3

Three separate Eagles hit two hits in the second game, including Hoyt, who started the game two and picked up the victory while going 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. Post 14 led 2-1 in the sixth inning before Max Fronk picked up an RBI single and Orr scored on a wild pitch to increase the Jamestown lead to 4-1. Hoyt would hold off Mandan in the seventh, striking out seven total batters and giving up two earned runs.

The Eagles improve to 3-9 overall on the season and will be in Perham, Minnesota this weekend for a tournament. Jamestown returns to Jack Brown Stadium on Tuesday, June 28th for a doubleheader against Minot.
