N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Parts of northern North Dakota could see a foot or more of snow by the end of the weekend.

The National Weather Service says a storm is bearing down on the Northern Plains from the Rockies, and will hit in two waves. The first wave is expected to hit northwest and north central North Dakota on Thursday night and continue into Friday, and the second wave late Friday through Sunday morning is forecast to dump more snow.

Southern areas in the west and central parts of North Dakota could see snow, sleet and freezing rain. The wintry mix could extend into parts of South Dakota.

Some of the cities including in this snow advisory are Jamestown, Carrington, New Rockford, Rugby, Devils Lake, Cooperstown, Grand Forks, Bismarck, Williston and Minot.
