The Blue Jay soccer and softball teams had great showings on Friday night in Bismarck and West Fargo. Both teams are readying for their respective West Region Tournaments starting next Thursday.

SOCCER: JAMESTOWN 2, ST. MARY’S 0

The two leading goal scorers for Jamestown this season, seniors Haley Nelson and Claire Frohlich, each scored at St. Mary’s to send the Blue Jays into the West Region Tournament with a win. Nelson scored her 16th goal of the season in the first half and Frohlich got her fifth in the second half. Olivia Sorlie recorded five saves as Jamestown improved to 8-6 on the year. The Blue Jays will play in a state qualifier match on Thursday against the winner of Monday’s Mandan and Williston matchup. Thursday’s game will be played at St. Mary’s at 4:00 PM. Jamestown ends the regular season as the #4 seed in the West, finishing one point in front of Mandan.

SOFTBALL: GAME 1 – JAMESTOWN 10, WEST FARGO 8 | GAME 2 – JHS 10, WFHS 3

The Blue Jays picked up a pair of non-conference over the Packers to round out the regular season. Jamestown gained the lead in the seventh inning of the first game and carried that momentum into game two. The Blue Jays finish the regular season at 16-8 overall, going 10-6 in the West Region. Jamestown has the five seed and will take on Legacy on Thursday in Bismarck. Times are still TBD and games are at the Sanford Sports Complex (Starion Field).
