JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission moved to raise the poll worker wages before the upcoming Primary on June 14th.
Auditor and COO Jessica Alonge informed the commission that wages hadn’t been increased in the last three years for poll workers in the county.
Alonge says the wage excludes County employees and would only be for those at the Medina location, judges, inspectors, and greeters at the Civic Center.
The County will look to have roughly 20 paid election workers to assist staff with the vote center and absentee ballot locations.
Commissioner Ramone Gumke says rather than fall further behind the other counties, he would recommend increasing the wage this year and address it again as needed in the future.
The commission unanimously approved to increase the wage from $12 an hour to $15 an hour.
Alonge provided a list of courthouse staff and poll workers who would be working early vote election and primary election on June 14th.
The list was also unanimously approved.
The commission also approved of an IT infrastructure upgrade project and awarded the lawn care bid for the Courthouse. Preliminary budget discussion was also held.
