Delores Marlene (Carlson) Johnson, 90, died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Valley City, North Dakota. Delores was born on December 4, 1931 in Gwinner, North Dakota to Agnes (Pearson) and Elmer Carlson. Delores had two sons, Michael and Kirt. On December 7, 1989, Delores married Rodger Johnson in Valley City, ND, where she resided until her death.

Over the years, Delores held several jobs. She worked at the Veteran’s Home in Lisbon, North Dakota. She was owner of The Big Cone in LaMoure, North Dakota. She and Rodger owned and managed Midtown Motel in Valley City, ND. They also owned several rental properties in Valley City that she helped maintain.

Delores loved spending time with her family and friends. Rodger and Delores enjoyed wood working and going to craft shows. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, fishing, going to casinos, playing cards, collecting roosters, camping, and making fudge and lefse.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Arthur and Fritz Carlson, sons Michael and Kirt Johnson, and stepdaughter Marcella (Mike) Metcalf.

Delores is survived by husband Rodger, her brother Gary (Jean) Carlson, her sister Connie Pithey, , daughter-in-law Bernadette (Gary) Botner, step daughters Sheila (Dean) Kinney, and Bonita (Rick) Fjestad, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 2, 2022 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City with visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Whitestone Hill Cemetery in Gwinner, North Dakota.
