Marketplace for Kids in 2019

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Marketplace for Kids Education Day returns to its humble beginnings on Tuesday, May 10th in Jamestown.

With the first event in 1995, Executive Director Bob Heitkamp says they have since grown to hold Marketplace for Kids in numerous other locations in the state.

Heitkamp says the goal of this event is for every student to receive entrepreneurship education and encouragement to become a lifelong partner in building stronger communities.

He says they have nearly 500 students in grades 3 through 8 ready to participate.

Kids will spend the day hearing from various speakers, different sessions, and some will even present different entrepreneurial ideas to other educators, students, and members of the public.

From there, the students will present their ideas to other community members during the lunch hour, which is open to the public.

Students will be greeted by speakers that include North Dakota First Lady Kathryn Burgum, University of Jamestown President Dr. Polly Peterson, and Matt Chaussee, a CEO for Be More Colorful.

Welcomes will be conducted by the JHS Blue Jazz Group, Jamestown students, and Mayor Dwaine Heinrich with Emcee Maddy Orr.

The event will take place at the Harold Newman Arena on Tuesday, May 10th.
