From Jamestown Athletics
ABERDEEN, S.D.– The University of Jamestown track and field teams competed in windy conditions Saturday at the Dewey Donat Classic, hosted by Northern State University at Swisher Activities Complex.
Despite the weather, the Jimmies came away with 26 top-10 finishes.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Anni Stier (SO/Rugby, N.D.) took first in the 400 hurdles (1:13.41) while Brittney Reister (FR/Medina, N.D.) was second (1:15.31)
- Paige Erbstoesser (FR/West Fargo, N.D.) was second in the 3000 steeplechase (14:39.64)
- Jordynn Toliver (SO/Box Elder, S.D.) set a new personal best in the heptathlon with 4546 points, which moves her into third on the Jimmie career list.
- Kate Busek (FR/Fargo, N.D.) was third in the javelin (31.57 meters; 103 feet, 7 inches), and Paige Erhardt (FR/Hazen, N.D.) was fifth (30.27 meters; 99 feet, 4 inches)
- Alexis Waldren (JR/Washburn, N.D.) took eighth in the hammer with a top mark of 41.27 meters (135 feet, 5 inches)
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Braeden Knutson (SO/Casselton, N.D.) was the winner of the 400 hurdles, crossing the tape in 59.17 seconds
- Four Jimmies placed in the top 10 of the 800 meters, led by Alex Walker (FR/Lakewood, Colo.) (2nd, 2:14.04). David Martin (SO/Wasco, Calif.) was fourth (2:18.45), Micah Hoke (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) fifth (2:19.65), and Corbin Cornelius (SO/Wahpeton, N.D.) ninth (2:26.26)
- Drew Hjelmstad (FR/Maple Grove, Minn.) was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:47.48), as was Jorden Morales (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) in the discus (43.24 meters; 141 feet, 10 inches)
- Nik Herman (SR/Glasgow, Mont.) claimed third in the javelin (38.17 meters; 125 feet, 3 inches)
- Tyler Dean (FR/Watertown, S.D.) was fourth in the shot put (12.98 meters, 42 feet, 7 inches)
- Braedon Gumke (JR/Watford City, N.D.) (pole vault), Josiah Rudloff (SO/Aladdin, Wyo.) (high jump), and Chris Sayler (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) (triple jump) each placed fifth
- Rounding out the top 10 finishes were Lorenzo Maldonado (JR/Wasco, Calif.) (400 meters, 7th), Kanyon Vermillion (FR/Henderson, Nev.) (1500 meters, 8th), Nasim Green (SO/Pennsauken, N.J.) (100 meters, 8th), Chris Sayler (long jump, 8th), Bryson Tripp (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) (decathlon, 8th), and Samuel Kludt (SR/Hettinger, N.D.) (100 meters and 200 meters, 10th)
