VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity lost the lead late in a 10-7 defeat to Wahpeton on Monday.  Wahpeton trailed 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning when Josiah Hofman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Wahpeton had 12 hits on the way to victory.

Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity captured the lead in the second inning when Gavin Gerhardt drew a walk, scoring one run.

After Wahpeton scored one run in the top of the sixth, Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity answered with one of their own.  Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity then answered when Devyn Thornton singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Wahpeton scored three runs in the third inning.  Tori Uhlich, Jayden King, and Riley Thimjon each had RBIs in the frame.

Caden Hockert earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Wahpeton. The bulldog went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out five and walking one.  #8 threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Max Mehus took the loss for Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity. The righthander surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Braxton Jorissen started the game for Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity. The pitcher surrendered five runs on five hits over two innings, striking out two King started the game for Wahpeton. The pitcher surrendered six runs on two hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two

Mehus, Jorissen, Thornton, Joe Cummings, Broden Muske, Ethan Miller, and Gerhardt all had one hit to lead Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity.

Wahpeton tallied 12 hits in the game.  Uhlich, #24, and Thimjon all managed multiple hits for Wahpeton.

Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound Monday, but Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity defeated Wahpeton 3-2. Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity pitchers allowed just five hits to Wahpeton.

Carver Pederson got the win for Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing one hit and two runs while walking zero.

Caden Kappes took the loss for Wahpeton. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

Ethan Miller started the game for Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity. Miller allowed four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one Tori Uhlich started the game for Wahpeton. Uhlich surrendered two runs on three hits over three innings, striking out five

In the top of the 5th with new pitcher, Carver Pederson in, Wahpeton struck for 2 to tie the game.

Valley City wins on a walk off passed ball in the bottom of the 5th inning with Gavin Gerhardt scoring the winning run.

Adam Bitz, Kai Kringlie, and Miller each collected one hit to lead Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity.

Skyler Bladow led Wahpeton with two hits in three at bats.
