SIOUX CITY, Iowa– Samuel Jackman (JR/St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba) was named GPAC Player of the Year Monday as the Great Plains Athletic Conference announced its postseason awards.

Jackman was one of five Jimmies to be named to the first team, along with Caylor Cox (SO/Helena, Mont.), Braden Neumann (SR/Costa Mesa, Calif.), Korben Phillips (FR/Western, Australia), and Tanner Woods (SO/Huntington Beach, Calif.).

Jackman recorded 282 kills and a hitting percentage of .285. He averaged 3.66 kills per set and also had 145 digs. Cox led the Jimmies with 482 assists and 43 aces. He hit .327 and had 106 digs. Neumann had a team-best 175 digs, averaging 2.33 per set, and passed out 40 assists. Phillips was third on the team with 152 kills and hit .464. He also had a team high 61 blocks, including 18 solo and 43 block assists. Woods was second with 194 kills, hitting .238 and had 34 aces and 32 blocks.

Phillips was chosen as Freshman of the Year and Caylor Cox was voted as Setter of the Year along with Jacob DePauw of Morningside (Iowa).

Travers Cox was named Coach of the Year. Cox, in his first season as head coach of the Jimmies, led the team to a perfect 10-0 conference record as well as the regular season and postseason GPAC championships.

Selected to the second team were Austin Jacob (SO/Houston, Texas) and Zack Meyer (SR/Wheaton, Ill.). Jacob had 306 assists, 50 kills, 45 digs, and 30 blocks. Meyer racked up 147 kills, hitting .268 with 89 digs and 18 aces.

Earning honorable mention recognition were Ever Cancel (SO/Mayaguez, Puerto Rico) and Adam Lopata (SO/Germantown, Wis.). Cancel hit .413 with 34 kills and had 35 blocks while Lopata had 25 digs, seven aces, and six assists.

Jamestown (19-5) is ranked seventh in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll and earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament April 12-16 in Des Moines, Iowa.

2022 GPAC Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams
