Interstate Engineering’s Travis Dillman explains the process of planning and designing outdoor courts for the Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Parks and Recreation along with Interstate Engineering are welcoming public input on a proposed outdoor court project near the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC).
The concept includes the addition of six pickleball courts, three sand volleyball courts, and two bocce ball courts.
Parks & Rec Director Amy Walters says they have since received a grant to continue with the project.
Engineer Travis Dillman says the input portion of this project is to explore what the community would like to see to get a better idea with a finalized project and cost.
Dillman informed the group that they will complete stakeholder input April 15th before moving to design and survey through Mid April and May. If all goes according to projected plans, the outdoor courts could be ready for use in the Fall of 2022.
The outdoor pool was brought forth during the input meeting by Jamestown City Councilman Dave Steele. The design leaves space for the future development of the pool, which Walters says there is every intention to achieve that for the city.
Cost has been one of the primary reasons there’s been no movement on that front.
Walters reassures those who are calling for an outdoor pool to be built that they’re being heard.
Further discuss on the project including lights for the pickleball courts, sand for the volleyball courts, and designs for each were taken in from the public.
