AMES, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown women’s golf team finished second out of nine teams at the Jimmie Spring Swing, which concluded Tuesday at the Ames Golf & Country Club.
UJ had the best team score on Tuesday, finishing with a 354. Their two-round total of 713 (359-354) was 21 shots behind University of Sioux Falls (336-356).
Jayme Carlson (JR/Hartford, S.D.) had the best finish for Jamestown, taking fifth at 31-over 173 (87-86). Coley Olson (SO/Cook, Minn.) tied for sixth at 34-over 176 (90-86), and Izzy Marchino (SR/Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was ninth at 36-over 178 (90-88). Kyra Vogel (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) tied for 20th at 44-over 186 (92-94), and Faith Justesen (SO/Hawley, Minn.) was 30th at 48-over 190 (93-97).
Playing as individuals, Olivia Wallace (SR/Park Rapids, Minn.) was 22nd at 45-over 187 (95-92), Teagan Fee (JR/Havre, Mont.) tied for 23rd at 46-over 188 (95-93), and Haley Malone (JR/Moorhead, Minn.) tied for 31st at 49-over 191 (90-101).
“Our women had the low team score today which is a terrific accomplishment,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale. “And I’m really proud of how Jayme bounced back after Kansas to take home fifth place this week. We grew a lot this week and I’m excited to see where we go from here.”
The Jimmies will play next at the SDSM Invite at Arrowhead GC in Rapid City, S.D., April 4-5.
