OMAHA, Neb.– The University of Jamestown softball team managed just two runs in a pair of games Sunday, losing 3-1 and 11-1 in five innings to Bellevue University.

Jamestown (14-12, 1-1 GPAC) returns to conference action Friday with a doubleheader at Dordt (Iowa) University.

The Bruins scored one in the first and two in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead in game one. UJ rallied for one run in the seventh, coming with two outs. Gentrey Turin (SO/Sandy, Ore.) doubled to left and LaLa Romero (FR/Surprise, Ariz.) followed with another double to left for the only run.

Gracie Fisher (SO/Bemidji, Minn.) also double for the Jimmies, who finished with six hits in the game. Katie Merchant (JR/South Haven, Minn.) took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits over four innings.

Bellevue started off strong in game two, scoring five times in the first and adding two more in the second for a 7-0 lead. UJ’s lone run came in the top of the fourth when Katie Reisdorfer (SR/Fresno, Calif.) doubled to score Sunny Halsey (FR/Honolulu, Hawaii).

The Bruins scored once more in the fourth and ended the game with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.

Halsey had two hits to lead the Jimmies. Ally Battistoni (FR/Elizabeth, Colo.) also doubled for UJ.
