JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Longtime director of the Safe Shelter in Jamestown has announced her retirement.

Lynne Tally’s retirement will be official on June 30, 2022.

Safe Shelter was founded in 1980 in an effort to help end domestic violence and sexual assault. Tally joined in September of 1981, eventually transitioning into the executive director role. She has been responsible for staff leadership, fund development including grant writing/reporting, fiscal and budget management, organizational policy development, program development and coordination, collaboration with diverse agencies and organizations, facility management, and some direct services for survivors.

“I have loved doing this work for nearly 41 years,” Tally stated. “There has never been a day when I wished I could work somewhere else. Leaving is bittersweet for me, but it’s time for new leadership and new energy and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Safe Shelter and Mary’s Place.”

A transition committee has been formed and the search process is underway to find the organization’s next Executive Director. Interested applicants can email toniweg@daktel.com for an application packet.

Deadline for submission is April 6, 2022.
