WAHPETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Richland County Deputy’s vehicle was struck Tuesday, March 8th roughly 18 miles southwest of Wahpeton.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a deputy was conducting a traffic stop just before 10:30 PM on the median side of I-29 when a pickup traveling southbound failed to move over and struck the patrol vehicle.

A total of three vehicles were involved. The deputy needed to be extricated from her patrol car and suffered a broken arm in the incident.

The Interstate was shut down for a brief period until vehicles could be moved. The deputy was transported to Fargo for medical treatment.

Agencies involved include the Highway Patrol, Richland County Sheriff’s office, Richland County rescue, and local Ambulance. The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
