WIMBLEDON, N.D. (Wimbledon Newsletter) – Barnes County North Superintendent Michael Severson announced his intentions to retire at the February 16th School Board meeting.

Severson says this will be effective June 2022.

Dakota Leadership Solutions has engaged to actively recruit a new superintendent, with 11 known North Dakota vacancies for the 2022-23 school year at the time of his resignation. Dakota Leadership is made up of seasoned school administrators and teachers.

“After 37 years in Education, I am retiring from the profession,” Severson states in his report. “I spent 35 years of those as an Administrator, with 31 of them as a superintendent, so it is time to move into a new chapter of my life.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the BCN family,” he continued. “You have been a major part of my life and each of you will be missed. Coming into this district 6 years ago, we faced a variety of challenges, but with the support of the Board, staff, and communities, we persevered and are better for it. It has truly been a team effort and everyone involved deserves credit for what a great school this is.”

BCN School District is also seeking a school board vacancy. Individuals must reside in the Barnes County North School District to be eligible.
