JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 3 boys basketball tournament kicked off with a bang on Monday at the Jamestown Civic Center with four games. Here are your day one results

LAMOURE-LITCHVILLE/MARION 62, NAPOLEON-GACKLE-STREETER 37

LaMoure-Litchville/Marion and Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter kicked off the boy’s region 3 basketball tournament on Monday at the Jamestown Civic Center. The first 4 minutes of the game did not see a single point. It was the Imperials who got the game’s first points, however, it would be the Loboes who came away with the 62-37 victory. The Loboes led 10-3 after the first frame, but it was a 10-0 run to open up quarter number 2 that really separated LaMoure on the scoreboard. Colton Ness started the second quarter the same way he ended the first quarter, with a lay-up off the glass, he would finish with 12-points. The Loboes would go into the half with a commanding 31-7 lead, Max Musland had a lot to do with that as he finished with a team-high 17-points in the win. For Napoleon, they were led by Trenton Erbele who finished with 13-points and 14 rebounds in the losing effort.

SOUTH BORDER 51, GRIGGS-MIDKOTA 50

A back-and-forth game between the Mustangs and Titans saw the #2 seed from District 6 survive and advance. When all was said and done, this game came down to free throws. South Border went 18-21 from the line while Griggs-Midkota only went 5-12 in the loss. The Titans hit some big threes down the fourth quarter, but South Border started the final quarter on an 11-0 run. Kaden Bader led the Mustangs with 16 points, and Trevor Schmidt produced a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. For Griggs-Midkota, Jaxon Gronneberg scored 16 points to pace the Titans, and Logan Topp had 14 points.

LINTON HMB 53, CARRINGTON 49

The Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then Carrington took the lead for the next three quarters before LHMB tied the game at 35 in the fourth quarter, then the Lions jumped ahead by five points and never looked back. The Lions were led by Junior Grant Bosch with 23 points and 10 boards, he hit three 3-pointers, Jace Jochim added 14. Carrington was led by Senior Lucas Hendrickson with 15, Junior Hudson Schmitz added 11. Carrington ends their season at 11-12 overall, LHMB improves to 13-8 overall.

ELLENDALE 75, MEDINA PINGREE BUCHANAN 52

Senior Center Scott Wagner dropped in 41 points to help No. 9 Ellendale improve to 19-2 overall and move into the semifinal round Tuesday night. Riley Thorpe added 18 for the Cardinals. As a team, Ellendale shot 63% from the field. MPB was led by Junior Josh Moser with 14 points, MPB ends their season at 15-7 overall.
