BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay girls basketball season came to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon as Jamestown fell to Bismarck High 59-53 in a state qualifier at the West Region Tournament.

Jamestown and Bismarck traded buckets early in the first half, but the pressure from the Demons forced 15 turnovers during the first 18 minutes and allowed Bismarck to take a six point lead into the break. In the second half, Jamestown trailed by 12 points before briefly regaining the lead behind strong outside shooting from Katie Trumbauer and Hunter Petersen. In the end, the Jays didn’t have quite enough gas in the tank as the Demons pulled away late to move onto the state tournament.

Senior Annie Nabwe recorded another double-double in the WDA Tournament, scoring 11 points and putting up 14 rebounds. Junior Katie Falk led the Blue Jays in scoring with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, also snagging seven rebounds. Trumbauer and Petersen each had nine points in the loss for the Jays, and Jamestown went 7/21 from long range as a team.

Junior Ella Falk and Nabwe were both named to the All-WDA team from Jamestown. The Blue Jays finish the year with a 13-9 overall record, going 11-7 in the WDA during the regular season. Petersen, Nabwe, and Trumbauer will all graduate for Jamestown in 2022.
