BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School girls basketball team survived a battle with Watford City on Friday night in the Capital City as the Blue Jays defeated the Wolves 60-54.

Watford City held the lead for a majority of the first half before Jamestown’s Katie Trumbauer connected on a deep three right before the break to give the Jays a 27-26 lead. In the second half, Jamestown jumped in front by as many as 13 points behind a big effort on the glass, collecting 24 total offensive rebounds in the win. The Blue Jays outrebounded Watford City 62-40 while shooting 34% from the field.

Junior Ella Falk put up 21 points, including 11 in the first half, to help lead Jamestown to victory in a must-win game. Annie Nabwe helped the Jays dominate on the glass, grabbing 16 total rebounds to go along with 12 points for a double-double. Madison Spacher of Watford City was the leading scorer in the game, finishing with 36 points in the loss. The Jays did struggle from the free throw line despite the victory, going just 7-of-18 at the line.

Jamestown will now have a quick turnaround as they play Saturday morning at 11 am against Bismarck High in a state qualifier game. The Jays, now 13-8 on the year, fell to the Demons twice during the regular season.
