LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (jimmiepride.com)–  In its closest title hunt yet, the University of Jamestown women’s wrestling came away with its fourth straight Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference championship Saturday afternoon.

The Jimmies finished with 180 points as Hastings (Neb.) finished with 164.5 points and Midland (Neb.) third with 163.

Six first-place winners and 12 top-eight placers helped Jamestown to the top spot.

Samantha Weeks (JR/Tacoma, Wash.) (109), Arianna Marrufo (JR/Dos Palos, Calif.) (116), Josie Bartishofski (SO/Weston, Wis.) (123), Allie Baudhuin (130), Sierra Talmadge (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) (170), and Kelly LaCost (SO/Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) (191) won their brackets. Bartishofski won at 116 and Marrufo at 123 last year, while Baudhuin, Talmadge, and LaCost repeated as champions. Weeks was also a winner in 2020 at 109 pounds.

Weeks, tied for the 20th ranking nationally, was spotless in her two matches, winning both by 10-0 tech fall, and Baudhuin, ranked 12th, outscored her three opponents 30-0 in three tech falls.

Marrufo (10th at 123) defeated 14th-ranked Emily Fergeson of York (Neb.) by 10-0 tech fall in the 116 first-place match, and Baudhuin took down 17th-ranked Emily Paulino of Midland (Neb.) by 10-0 tech fall.

Talmadge, No. 2 nationally at 170, defeated 20th-ranked Raziyah Thomas of Avila by 8-4 decision and 15th-ranked Jasmin Ballesteros of Midland by 11-1 tech fall.

LaCost, 9th at 191, pinned 10th-ranked Lessly Sandoval of University of Saint Mary in 2:17 in the championship match. Her two other victories also came by pin, in 29 and 36 seconds, respectively.

Grace Todhunter (FR/Newman Lake, Wash.) (4th, 191), Luisita Jara (SO/Menifee, Calif.) (5th, 130), Haley Ulroan (6th, 155), Marissa Burt (SO/Herman, Neb.) (7th, 123), Mandy Camacho (SO/Perris, Calif.) (7th, 155), and Xandra Edwards (SO/Tustin, Calif.) (8th, 136) rounded out the Jimmie place winners.
